The Painter - Magnus Park

Magnus Park was born in Paisley [where his great-great grandfather was a shawl designer] and lives in Birkenhead. His early career began as a carpet designer which gave him the opportunity to attend design classes at the Glasgow School of Art; this experience has had a considerable influence upon him.  He graduated from Bristol University with a First in Painting/Printmaking and Education and went onto Chelsea School of Art where he took a Post Graduate Higher Diploma in Art & Design. Since then he has been teaching Art & Design and Graphics in the Secondary school sector and Higher education –  this will be his third exhibition since retiring 2006.
His work has been exhibited widely for many years including New Guesten Hall at the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings, Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, MOMA Oxford, Whitechapel Gallery, London, Glasgow School of Art, McLellan Galleries, Glasgow, Mall Galleries, London, Bournville College, Birmingham, Gloucester College of Education, St Saviour’s Parish Centre, Wirral and Manistee Art Institute, Michigan USA.
Recent projects include private commissions to paint houses for the owners and currently Dumfries House, Scotland are using one of his paintings of the house for part of their product range.
His work is featured in many public, institution and private collections worldwide.
